Success Stories

- • Convinced local government to permanently remove the entire Rogers-Eubanks community from consideration as the site for a waste transfer station and other undesirable public facilities.
• Partnered with UNC Chapel Hill researchers and the Daniel A. Okun Chapter of Engineers Without Borders to administer a household water and sewer infrastructure survey and test surface and drinking water quality and air quality (Community-based participatory research).
• Created community-facilitated strategies to educate residents, the general public, media, and politicians about ongoing problems in the community.
• Published "Rogers Road", a Community History

• Established the Rogers-Eubanks Community Center
• Participated in and hosted the NC Environmental Justice Network’s statewide Environmental Justice Summits
• Mentoring of other struggling communities in the state about strategies for mobilizing community members and organizations to affect public health policy.
